BIOLOGIA FLORAL E SISTEMA REPRODUTIVO DE Manettia inflata SPRAGUE (RUBIACEAE) NA REGIÃO DE GOIOERÊ , PR

FLORAL BIOLOGY AND REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM OF Manettia inflata SPRAGUE (RUBIACEAE) IN THE GOIORÊ REGION, STATE OF PARANÁ, BRAZIL
ABSTRACT - This work carried out about phenology, floral biology, pollination and reproductive system of Manettia inflata, in Goioerê-PR. M. inflata is a distilic perennial liana, presenting continuous floration, but with a peak between May/ June, the most wet months. The flowers are isolate and tubular, with red coloration. Morphologically, the morphs differ in high of anthers and in the style's length. The anthesis is diurnal, and it is occurring in the beginning of the morning (7.00 -8.00) and of the afternoon (13.00 - 14.00). The life's time of the flower is about three or four days. Heliconius erato phyllis is considered the effective pollinator of this species in this locality, in the consequence of the behavior, the visit's frequency and the fidelity during the year. Eueides isabella, Parides anchises, Xylocopa frontalis, Centris sp and Phaethornis petrei are considered occasional pollinators. The others visitors are considered nectar's or pollen's thieves. As for the reproductive system, these species reproduce most efficiently by xenogamy although experiments with self-pollination and geitogamy indicate some degree of the compatibility.
