CARACTERÍSTICAS DAS ESPÉCIES ARBÓREAS UTILIZADAS NA NIDIFICAÇÃO POR JOÃOGRAVETO PHACELLODOMUS RUFIFRONS AVES: FURNARIIDAE EM ÁREAS DE CERRADO DA RESERVA ECOLÓGICA DO RONCADOR DISTRITO FEDERAL

Resumo

Neste estudo avaliou-se a seleção do habitat na nidificação por Phacellodomus rufifrons (Furnariidae) em áreas de cerrado na RECOR/DF. Foram tomadas medidas dos ninhos (comprimento, largura e distância ao solo) e as árvores que serviam de suporte foram identificadas e medidas a altura e a circunferência. Foram encontrados 24 ninhos, dos quais 87,5 % ocorreram em beiras de estradas e estavam ocupados. A famí­lia Leguminosae, que possui alta densidade e ampla distribuição no Cerrado, apresentou a maioria dos ninhos (83,33 %), sendo 41,67% encontrados em Pterodon pubescens. Esta espécie apresenta-se em baixas densidades, freqí¼ência e dominância em áreas abertas de cerrado no Distrito Federal. Sclerolobium paniculatum ocorre em alta densidade e freqí¼ência na região, com uma distribuição espacial agrupada que dificulta a escolha de P. rufifrons em decorrência desta distribuição dos ninhos refletir uma maior competição por alimento e território na área. As medidas de árvores e de ninhos não apresentaram uma relação significativa através da análise de correlação canônica. A preferência de P. rufifrons por uma espécie arbórea para a nidificação deve estar relacionada com a arquitetura do indiví­duo de P. pubescens, em geral de porte grande e copas largas, corresponde a um local de proteção aos ninhos desta espécie.

ARBOREAL SPECIES CHARACTERISTICS SELECTED FOR NES- TING BY RUFOUS-FRONTED THORNBIRD PHACELLODOMUS RUFIFRONS (BIRDS: FURNARIIDAE) IN A CERRADO AREAS IN THE RESERVE ECOLOGICAL AT RONCADOR (RECOR/DF), FEDERAL DISTRICT.

ABSTRACT - In this study the selection of the habitat was evaluated in the nesting by Rufous-fronted thornbird Phacellodomus rufifrons (Furnariidae) in areas at cerrado in RECOR/DF. The measurements for nests were found (length, width and distance from the ground) and the trees that served as support was identified and measures the height and circumference. Twenty-four nests were found, of the which 87,5 % occurred in road borders and they are occupied. The family Leguminosae, that have high density and wide distribution in the Cerrado, presented the majority of nests (83,3 %) about 41,67 % found in Pterodon pubescens. This species presented in low densities, frequency and dominance in open areas at cerrado to District Federal. Sclerolobium paniculatum occurred in high density and frequency in region, with the grouped spatial distribution that difficult the choice of P. rufifrons due to this distribution of the nests reflect in the major competition for food and territory in the area. The measurements at trees and nests didn't present a significant correlation through the analysis of canonical correlation. The preference of P. rufifrons for an arboreal species for the nesting should be related with the individual's architecture and P. pubescens, in general of large size and wide crown it corresponds to a protection local to the nests of this specie.
